Cotinus Royal Purple
Cotinus coggygria 'Royal Purple'
A small tree with incredible deep claret-purple foliage from spring and through summer. Mid-summer sees a display of pinky-mauve flowers at the foliage tips that resemble a smoke haze, and are not easily forgotten when seen at their best. A slow-growing deciduous tree that's great for a smaller section or courtyard setting.
Feature:

Brilliant flower and foliage display over summer.

Uses: Garden and courtyards, around the patio and for several years a spectacular choice for summer patio and tub display.
Position: Best in an open and sunny situation. Colour's enhanced by cold winter conditions and a dry summer. Needs a freely-drained soil and does best if not overfed or fussed over.
Care: Prune heavily late autumn after leaves have fallen to retain shape and vigour for the following season.
