Dichroa Blue Sapphires
Dichroa versicolor 'Blue Sapphires'
This previously little known plant made a bold entrance into the new millennium. And rightly so! A native of north Burma, it’s a bold shrub with large hydrangea-like leaves, glossy and dark green. From late-spring large heads of pale blue flower buds progressively open to rich-denim-blue starry flowers. Truly impressive.
Feature:

Intense blue flowers over summer; evergreen bush.

Uses: Gardens, shaded glens, shrub borders.
Position: Very versatile, sun or shade, hot or cold, wet or dry. It’ll handle mild frost without difficulty.
Care: Little needed, though we prune ours to 50cm each autumn to ensure next year's flowers are at, or below, eye level. Leaf yellowing over summer indicates a feed with general fertiliser is in order!
