Clivia Hammett Sunset Glow
Clivia 'Hammett Sunset Glow'
Spectacular flowering performance in dry shade

Glowing like hot coals, the big orange flowers of Clivia ‘Hammett Sunset Glow’ make a memorable contrast to the broad, strap-shaped, deep green leaves. This stunning, improved version of the well known Clivia miniata loves shady conditions and its ability to thrive in even dry shade makes it a most useful as well as beautiful plant. Providing it has good drainage, it will look after itself, sending up the big flower spikes every spring, the flowering display getting better as the plants get older.

Combine ‘Sunset Glow’ with the gorgeous yellow flowered Clivia ‘Hammett Moonglow’ against a background of deep green ferns such as Asplenium bulbiferum in a shady spot and you will have a low maintenance, high appeal garden area. Clivia ‘Hammett Sunset Glow' is also well suited to growing in a container in a shaded spot. But don’t put it into too large a container to begin with - it’s one plant which likes to be root bound, so the water gets soaked up easily. It is one of the most rewarding container plants you could have, forgiving if you neglect to water it at times, and best of all, in this highly mobile age, if you shift house a potted Clivia is easy to take with you.
