Hydrangea Bodensee
Hydrangea macrophylla 'Bodensee'
Hydrangea evoke a special air of romance - they've got style and need very little attention to maintain their beautiful appearance. New cultivars retain the romance of old with improvements in flowering, compactness, free-branching, high-health and purity of colour. Bodense is a "blue" that's readily changed to mauve with addition of lime.
Feature:

Compact with domed flowers early in summer.

Uses: Patios, gardens, borders and under-plantings. Great for picking - it can be used both fresh and for drying. Use in floral art.
Position: Shaded and well-drained. Will handle summer dry spells, though flowers can be damaged if too dry for too long.
Care: Prune to about half size in autumn after leaf drop, and mulch to conserve moisture over summer. Blue colouration is encouraged with an autumn application of an acid fertiliser.
