‘Pearly Gates’ is one of those small shrubs with numerous possibilities for the imaginative gardener. The flowers provide beauty and fragrance, the foliage provides texture and interesting tactile qualities - touch it and see for yourself. Plus it responds well to trimming and can make a most attractive low hedge, so useful for dividing areas in the garden or making formal edgings to paths, and can even be trimmed into topiary forms.
If planted in a group, it makes a bold statement and a low maintenance, space filling, weed beating group. Flowering time is mainly early spring, but by mid-winter there’s often enough flowers to make a pretty picture.
