Like a silver flax, but don’t plant it in very moist or wet soils which flaxes will tolerate. ‘Silver Spear’ thrives in very well drained and dry soils. It’s happy in sun or shade - in dry shade it’s superb, often developing its best colouring. Wonderful as a contrast plant among low groundcovers and with a wide range of colours. A container plant supreme, untroubled if watering is neglected - in a blue pot it’s a real talking point. Trying planting it with silvery-blue succulents, with Bacopa ‘Blizzard’, Petunia Sunbells Grape or Caryopteris ‘Dark Knight’.
