The big, creamy-white flowers of Brunfelsia undulata ‘White Caps’ look so exotic that they make you think this is the sort of tender plant only seen outdoors in tropical resorts. Yet this small evergreen shrub with its handsome, narrow green leaves is quite at home in New Zealand gardens provided it has a sheltered, sunny spot such as against a heat-retentive north facing wall. ‘White Caps’ provides that sought-after tropical look when it’s smothered in flowers in summer. Plant it among bold foliage plants or against colourful walls for maximum impact, or mingle it with other cream and white flowers for an ethereal effect.
