A wildflower look for the summer garden is easy to achieve with Coreopsis ‘Flying Saucer’ and other free-spirited, free-flowering plants. In a sunny spot, group several of this gorgeous golden flowered plant among yellow kangaroo paws, orange Arctotis ‘Hayley’, coppery coloured grasses such as Care testacea and brightly coloured daylilies and alstroemerias. Also bright and cheerful is the combination of Coreopsis ’Flying Saucer’ with Heliotrope ‘Baby Marine’ and Salvia ‘Blue and Black’.
Use it too as a foreground to plantings of lavender and to provide colour among foliage plants such as succulents, cordylines and flaxes. Imagine the golden flowers on their long slender stems glowing gold among the dark wine coloured foliage of the burgundy coloured flax ‘Merlot’ or the fleshy rosettes of the bold succulent Aeonium ‘Schwartzkopf’.
