The compact nature of this small shrub makes it ideal for small gardens and the colourful foliage provides year-round interest. This is an excellent shrub to combine with other bold foliage subjects, such as chocolate coloured heucheras, gold and green Yucca ‘Garlands Gold’; Aeonium ‘Schwartzkopf’ or Carex testacea. Other ideas include under planting ‘Golden Veil’ with yellow, orange or blue pansies, or for a real warm colour glow in late winter and spring with wallflowers, which could be annual cheiranthus or the perennial Erysimum ‘Apricot Twist’ or ‘Pastel Patchwork’.
