Helleborus Thoroughbred Choice
Helleborus 'Thoroughbred Choice'
Exquisite tonings across a wide "hellebore colour-spectrum" - creams, limes, greens, pinks through to purples They're spectacular from late winter, more so as the clump matures. A herbaceous perennial that may die back over summer to flush again as it cools going into autumn.
An outstanding selected form massed with snow-white flowers in early spring and resplendent against a back drop of rich, green needle-like foliage. A favourite for gardens where it can tumble over rocks, spread over paving or grow down a wall.
Major puts on quite a show from early in spring and into summer. It has a profusion of large, plump, flower heads. They’re so full that they invite squeezing, and this of course releases the refreshing lavender aroma. It has strong stems and is always tidy - one of the best patio plants we've seen.
One of the brightest sights in winter, Clone 91 produces warm pink bracts from April with a fullness of colour through late winter. Requires well-drained soil and full sun. Avoid fertilizers. Hardy to medium frosts. Great for planting in mixed boarders. Grows to 1 metre.
A compact leucadendron with flaming-red star-like flowers atop arm-length bracts from early in winter. A rapid grower suitable for any size garden and forming a nicely rounded evergreen shrub. Salignum varieties are favourite leucadendrons, providing vivid garden displays and colourful cut-flowers for indoor use. Plant in a sunny and well-drained spot, applying plenty of peat and acid fertiliser.
There are times when the bright, yellow and deep pink variegated foliage of Leucadendron ‘Jester’ is just magic; in winter, for example, when the colours are at their brightest and boldest. This is a shrub for the adventurous gardener looking for plants with a difference to make the garden fun and full of character.
A small-growing form that has masses of yellow flushed red flower bracts in mid-winter. A popular shrub & excellent cut flower. Needs an annual trim. Has a dense growth habit. Sun. Wind & coastal tolerant. Well-drained soil. Evergreen. Grows 1.5m tall, 1m wide.
Showy in the garden and great indoors as a cut flower. A New Zealand cultivar and one that sets the standard for growing vigour, flower colour and floral performance. Bracts are a wine red in autumn and take on a pinkish cream flush towards spring.
This low growing, ground covering plant has been a favourite with many generations of gardeners - hardly surprising for its flowers are about the most beautiful shade of sky blue imaginable. The flowers open in spring and continue for many weeks - a delightful rockery plant.
A great garden plant to provide year round interest with rich burgundy leaves and bright pink and tasseled flowers late in winter and through spring. As the leaves mature they take on an olive-bronze hue and have a rough leathery texture, providing year round landscape appeal.
