Phormium Merlot
Phormium 'Merlot'
A versatile and distinguished wine-red architectural plant with a distinctive black leaf margin and midrib. Silver-grey leaf under side further highlight this slection of our native flax. Plant in full sun or part shade. Tolerant of dry spells. Grows 1.8m X 80cm.
Beautiful NZ flax with warm tonings to highlight any garden - a kaleidoscope of colour - green younger leaves mature to salmon pink that fade yellow as they age. An upright and tidy grower that's at home in garden or pot - where it grows quickly to fill a spot or gap. En masse it's great for new gardens and erosion control.
Stunning blue flowers are produced right through the warmer months from late spring to autumn. Versatile easy to grow mounding shrub which is drought tolerant once established. Well suited to shrub borders, banks, cottage gardens & low maintenance areas.
An 'old-fashioned' climbing rose that's an excellent choice for decorating a wall, trellis, archway or pergola. It's a strong grower that flowers from mid-spring and long into summer. A trim mid-summer will encourage extra flower later in the season. Plant in a sunny position against a trellis or similar.
An impressive selection of ground cover rosemary; this time with lush green foliage and covered in very rich blue flowers. A good choice for among paving or driveway cobbles where the scent is immediate when crushed or walked upon. Equally effective for under-planting established shrubs or roses.
An extremely dense, dark-green ground hugging form of rosemary. It has very fine leaves, bright blue flowers and a wonderful pendulous habit making it ideal for use on banks and in walls. Try it in a mixed container with other culinary shrubs, or perhaps with Mediterranean-style flowering plants - marguerite daisies for example.
A butterfly-attracting plant that flowers virtually all-year-round. Lovely mauve-blue flowers flush in spring and look great right through to the coldest of frosts. Plant in a sunny or partly-shaded area, keep a little on the moist side. Grows 30cm high and spreads to 50cm.
A wonderful improvement on the species. This one's got very dark green and luxuriant leaves, showy deep red flower buds that open to rich creamy white flowers over a long period during winter and spring. Then, to top it off, flowers are followed by very dark-blue, almost black, berries.
An erect evergreen with sword-like leaves in a myriad of colours; blue-green bordered with a wide margin that changes from gold to a rich cream. Forms a rounded clump over ten years and as it matures, throws a spike of showy cream flowers late summer and autumn. A choice specimen and accent plant.
An evergreen well-known for its architectural, bold sword-shaped leaves and stout trunk. It's an invaluable eye-catching feature plant in sunny dry areas or as an accent plant in large rockeries. Once mature, clusters of white bell-shaped flowers are produced once or twice a year. An excellent container subject, both indoors and out.
